W. Thomas Dobbins Jr. AIA is founder and president of The Dobbins Group. Tom has worked in the design/construction arena for over 30 years and has completed over 10,000,000 square feet of commercial real estate projects in design, engineering, construction and client-specific strategic planning. With the last thirteen years Tom has worked hands-on in areas of expertise including medical, industrial, office, interiors, retail and institutional projects. Most recently, Tom was instrumental in relocating the Jewel-Osco Corporate Headquarters, supporting Grainger's facility needs and designing | building Blackberry's new research and development facility.
Tom's former industry experience includes Project Manager for The Austin Company and Vice President for eight years at McClier Corporation where he won the National and Chicago AIA Award for Historic Restoration of The Rookery.
After graduating from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies, he went on to receive Masters of Architecture from the University of Illinois and a Master of Management from Northwestern University.
Tom is a member of American Institute of Architects (AIA), Design Build Institute of America and National Trust for Historic Preservation, IIDA and is LEED Certified.
